Bruce W. Duncan
Chairman of the Board
Mr. Duncan presently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Marriott International, Inc. (NASDAQ: MAR), the world’s largest hotel company. He formerly served as Chairman of the Board of Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide, Inc., one of the leading hotel and leisure companies in the world, from 2005 to September 2016. From April to September 2007, Mr. Duncan served as CEO of Starwood on an interim basis. He was a member of Starwood's Board of Directors since 1999, and was a Trustee of Starwood Hotels & Resorts, a real estate investment trust and former subsidiary of Starwood, since 1995. Mr. Duncan is a member of the Board of Directors of Boston Properties, Inc. and he is also an independent director of the T. Rowe Price Funds. He also serves on the Board of Governors of the Investment Company Institute (ICI) and as a member of the Governing Council of the Independent Directors Council (IDC).
Mr. Duncan previously served as President and CEO of Equity Residential (NYSE: EQR), a publicly traded apartment company, from 2002 through 2005. From 1995 to 2000, he was Chairman, President and CEO of Cadillac Fairview Corporation, one of North America's largest owners and developers of retail and office properties. From 1978 to 1994, Mr. Duncan served in several management roles at JMB Realty Corporation, most recently as President and Co-CEO of JMB Institutional Realty Corporation. During his tenure at JMB, the firm grew its asset base from $800 million to more than $25 billion.
Mr. Duncan's past professional affiliations include serving as a member of the following Executive Committees: the Advisory Board of Governors of the National Association of Real Estate Investment Trusts (NAREIT), the Canadian Institute for Public Real Estate Companies (CIPREC), the National Multi-Housing Council (NMHC), and Trustee of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC). He also previously served as Trustee of commercial real estate firms: The Rouse Company, Cousins Properties Incorporated, and The Rubenstein Company. Additionally, Mr. Duncan was a senior advisor to Kohlberg Kravis & Roberts & Co. from July 2008 to January 2009. He is a Trustee Emeritus of RUSH University Medical Center in Chicago. He holds an MBA in Finance from the University of Chicago and a BA degree in Economics from Kenyon College.
